About us

“SpielLandschaftStadt e.V.” is a Bremen based association that focusses on achieving a child-friendly city. 

According to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child we focus on the rights (and needs) of children to play and move freely and safely as well as to participate in decisions that affect their daily life.

To our main activities belong participation projects with children and teenagers to assess the quality of their neighbourhoods concerning playgrounds and outdoor recreation possibilities, as well as problems with traffic on their everyday routes (e.g. the route to school or kindergarten) and other aspects of mobility.

We also organize smaller participation projects on playgrounds to guarantee that children`s ideas are being heard and to establish more creative playgrounds in Bremen.

SpielLandschaftStadt manages a fund by the German Children`s Fund and the Bremen Senator for Youth and Social Affairs to provide financial and ideal support for initiatives to establish new small playing areas in their neighbourhood, e.g. on temporary playstreets, in parks, along sidewalks, on schoolyards.

Where playgrounds are rare, playing on the street can be a very interesting option. SpielLandschaftStadt supports neighbourhoods to establish play streets and we also provide mobile playing material like big wooden boxes and planks, trampolines, ladders, skipping ropes, scooters, balls, soccer goals and so on.
